Julie is 5 years old when her mother dies in the WTC, Sept 11th, 2001. It is 13 years later. Julieʼs mental health is strained, as is her relationship with her father. Pushed to his limits, Julieʼs father resigns himself to the fact that he is unable to care for his daughter. He signs her over to psychiatric services. Julie has other plans. On the eve of her admission to residential care, she takes a few belongings, her motherʼs ashes and some cash, and boards a plane to Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt. She goes directly to Mount Sinai to challenge God. She wants to make sense of her motherʼs death. She is met with profound disappointment and comes face to face with her own vulnerability and a loss of faith. Her mental fragility overwhelms her to the point of mental collapse marking the beginning of a new journey that she had not anticipated. A Bedouin healer, Rajab, from the Gebeliya tribe, takes her under his care. She falls in love with a young man from the same tribe, Saleh. With both of their help, she begins to find peace and hope amidst the chaos of her mind. But, Salehʼs arranged marriage is imminent. His brother Farhad's own marriage depends on it. When Farhad discovers Saleh and Julieʼs affair, he goes to terrifying lengths to stop it. Deep in the Sinai desert, far from home, Julie finds herself caught between a profound awakening and a harrowing threat. Between the two, she emerges.
